How to set up LiteSpeed Cache Plugin


In today's fast-paced digital landscape, having a fast and optimized website is essential for attracting and retaining visitors. Since Indystack is using Open LiteSpeed web server and LiteSpeed cache plugin, we’ve already configured the plugin and there is nothing you need to worry about or do.


However, if you are not using Indystack yet, here's a step-by-step guide on how to set up the LiteSpeed caching plugin for WordPress:

Step 1: Install the LiteSpeed Cache Plugin

Log in to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to the "Plugins" section.
Click on "Add New" and search for "LiteSpeed Cache."
Click "Install Now" and then "Activate."

Step 2: Configure the Basic Settings

Once you've activated the plugin, you will be directed to the "LiteSpeed Cache" page.
Click on the "Cache" tab and then select "Cache Settings."
Enable the cache by clicking the toggle switch.
Under "Cache Timeout," select how long you want cached content to be stored (e.g. 1 hour).
Save changes.

Step 3: Configure Advanced Settings

Under "Advanced" in the "Cache Settings" tab, you can further optimize your caching settings.
"Cache Privilege" allows you to specify which user roles can see cached content.
"Object Cache" caches frequently used objects to further speed up your site.
"Browser Cache" instructs visitors' browsers to cache certain static files (e.g. images) for a specified amount of time.
Save changes.

Step 4: Optimize Your Site for LiteSpeed Cache

Navigate to the "Optimize" tab and select "Optimization Settings."
"CSS Settings" and "JS Settings" allow you to optimize how these files are loaded.
"HTML Settings" allows you to minify HTML code.
"Media Settings" allows you to optimize images for faster loading.
Save changes.

Step 5: Configure ESI and CDN Settings

If you're using a content delivery network (CDN), navigate to the "CDN" tab and enter your CDN settings.
"ESI Settings" allows you to configure Edge Side Includes, which allows for dynamic content caching.
Save changes.

Step 6: Purge the Cache

If you make changes to your site (e.g. updating content), you'll need to purge the cache to see those changes.
Navigate to the "Purge" tab and select "Purge All."
You can also selectively purge specific pages or objects.
